Original equipment

Boxer Twins with 2 valves per cylinder (1955 > 1996)  Also known as “airheads”

Models manufactured from 09/1969 up to 08/1980

RV2 models with Twin shock absorbers manufactured from 09/1969 > 09/1984

RV2 models manufactured from 1984 > with single shock absorbers. Also known as “mono shock” or “monos”

RV2 models manufactured from 1988>  with single shock absorber on RH side of motorcycle rear frame. These have a universal joint at both ends of the drive shaft & a flexible rubber boot at both ends of the swinging arm. (Can be seen externally)

Boxer Twins with 4 valves per cylinder 1993 > current

Also known as:

• Oilhead = R850/1100/R1150/R1200C (Oil cooled)
• Hexhead = 2004 > 2009 (Air-Oil cooled)
• Camhead = R1200 2010 > 2013 (Air-Oil cooled)
• Wethead /LC  = R1200 2013 > 2018 (Liquid cooled) 
• Shifthead = R1250 2018 > (Liquid cooled)

K series engines with 4 valves per cylinder (1989 > 2008) Also known as “flat” or “brick” engines

Single cylinder F + G series models from 1993 > 2016 (F650 /G650GS etc)

New generation parallel twin cylinder models (F650/800/700/750/850/900)
